The French [k , c] in contrast to the English [k , c] is produced with lots of facial muscle and lip tension, so as to create a very explosive [k , c] without the release of the tension into a more or less audible aspiration.

More particularly, the word initial English [k , c] is produced with a lot of aspiration; that is, a significant amount of air blow follows the production of the sound.

·[c] - Before a consonant other than [h] and before the vowels [ a au ai o ou u ] the letter c is always pronounced [k]. EXCEPT it is sounded as a [g] sound in BUT it is mostly pronounced as [ s ] before the letters [ e ] and [ i ].  

·[c] word final is often pronounced [k] as in or in the [ct] cluster  
·[c] But sometimes in word final it is silent as in or in the [ct] cluster and usually silent in
