Please be mindful of the fact that all the French sounds are produced with greater facial, throat and other phonatory muscle tension than any English sound.

The Normal Stress Point (Independent of the speaker's psychological state)

The French word accent, just as the French demographic make-up, cannot be said to display a stable and systematic set of characteristic features. The classical school of French though would still like to persist with the view that there is a French accent norm to emulate.

In principle, the French so called primary "accent" or stress falls on the last syllable
. In the case of a final, silent [e] however the stress moves to the preceding syllable.

In words with more than 2 syllables there tend to be a secondary stress on the very first syllable in addition to the primary which falls on the last syllable.

The Emphatic and Affective Stress Point: ( Decided and determined by the speaker's psychological state)
Mullti-syllabic word starting with a consonant: Usually generated by emotions, indignation or surprise, the accent tends to fall on the very first syllable of the word that begin with a consonant. Je me fendrai ! C'est merveilleux !

Multi-syllabic word starting with a vowel: The first syllable in the word that starts with a consonant will receive the stress. C'est abominable ! Cest épouvantable !

In conclusion:

If you want to let your
emotions
go wild when you communicate in French MOVE THE STRESS to the FRONT OF THE WORD. Rest assured of the responses, you won't miss them.
