What do you need to draw maximum benefit from your French online learning at BSDE?

  • access to phone and simultaneous access to INTERNET; yes at the same time
  • access to an INTERNET enabled computer: preferably broadband speed
  • access to online Internet CONFERENCING: make early arrangements to set up a computer that can participate in conferences ( some fire-wall issues might need to be resolved)
  • a telephony/computer headset with microphone which frees up your hands for writing drawing and mouse navigating
  • access to EQ Learning Place BlackBoard with a password you would have received in an email, if your teacher has enrolled you into BlackBoard. Otherwise phone your teacher.
  • install French pronunciation help - go to http://www.media-loop.com to install the FRENCH SPEECH ENGINE as per instruction on the page, which will help with FRENCH PRONUNCIATION

  1. Refresh your Computer and Internet navigational skills!!!
  2. Can you send/receive eMails?
  3. Do you know what Windows Explorer is?
  4. Can you manage and modify files?
  5. Do you know what Web browser is?
  6. Can you download or upload files via Internet?
  7. Can you navigate/search the Internet?
  8. Can you install a downloaded software onto your personal computer?
  9. Read Student instructions for the use of BlackBoard!!
  10. Spend some time to discover how the LearningPlace BlackBoard or the BSDE websites work. You will often need to access them during your course.
