  • Discuss with your BSDE French teacher the best method for sending your mail-in tasks to BSDE but DO NOT SEND IN YOUR WORKBOOK.

o       Write answers on your computer, save as Word documents and attach to emails. If you do not have MS Office download, open Office.org from http://download.openoffice.org/2.3.1/index.html

o       Write answers in your booklets, photocopy to send.

o       Write answers on paper and send.

o       Scan and print before sending (Scanned work cannot be corrected digitally and are usually too large for the 2MB email limit)

o       Save work on memory sticks and send.

o       Digital transfer through Learning Place will be available later.

·        Most teachers and students prefer work to be sent via e-mail as it is usually a 24 -48 hour return time and is available for discussion in online classes.

E-MAILING WORK

  • Remember to label clearly the Unit ,Folio and Task you are sending.
  • Tasks should be e-mailed to your teacher in an MS Word document. This enables your teacher to correct your work on the screen
  • When you are asked to supply a missing word in a sentence of French, please write out the whole sentence.
  • If you have difficulty with the format of a particular Workbook Tasks e.g. a Crossword or table, photocopy or scan the page with your answers and sent to your teacher. Note: Scanning creates problems for online marking and should be avoided for most mail-in tasks.

RETURN OF WORK RATE

  • Students must return work regularly as outlined in the Work Rate calendar.
  • Failure to return work regularly will result in an “inactive” status.  Students are then NOT eligible to receive examinations and lose credit for the semester and risk not getting an OP rating.

GRAMMAR BOOKLET  The Grammar Booklet  that is included with the purchase of the textbooks is an integral part of the course.  Students are expecting to bring the booklet to phone lessons and to refer to it whenever needed.

TYPING ACCENTS

TO TYPE ACCENTS

·        Use the number pad on the right of the keyboard.

·        Hold down ALT                       (Make sure the keypad lock is on)

·        Type 0+ the numbers given below. (Use the Number Keypad)

224            à                      226 â                           232  è                          233 é

234      ê

238            î                       244 ô                           251  û                          249  ù

199            Ç                     231 ç                           201 É                           192  À

Students working on laptops may have trouble with this system for accents.  Possible alternatives include buying a cheap keyboard with a numeric pad/transferring the work to a PC to add accents/using the insert symbol routine/ or for the technically competent, assigning keystrokes for accents.

LEARNING PLACE ACCESS

All students will be provided with access to the online Learning Place and given an opportunity to participate in online lessons if classes can be organised at suitable times.  Your French teacher will discuss this.
