ou oû [strongly French]

Please be mindful of the fact that all the French sounds are produced with greater facial, throat and other phonatory muscle tension than any English sound.

The French [ ou ] sound
could be best described as being close to the vowel sound in English words like; ( short ) foot, ( long ) shoot, boot. Once more, in French you will have to produce lots of lip-rounding and forward lip projection if you wish to produce near authentic French [ou] sounds.

The sound's written representations are: ou oû aoû

·[ ou ] short :
·[ ou ] usually long before gap sounds and [R] [ L ] :
·[ où ] short
·[ oû ] long short
·[ aoû ] short
·[ aou ] long
